Seva Story #40 of 100
Aloha Friends,
Today’s Seva story #40 of 100 comes from me (Johanna) and I live on Maui. I am collecting 100 Seva stories to share ideas, inspiration and spread positive news, Seva means selfless service for the benefit of community and the environment.
I am currently volunteering teaching meditation and yoga at Women Helping Women Maui. “The mission of Women Helping Women is to end domestic violence through advocacy, education and prevention; and to offer safety, support and empowerment to women and children, victims of domestic violence.Domestic violence can happen to anyone regardless of race, age, sexual orientation, religion, or gender. Domestic violence affects people of all socioeconomic backgrounds and education levels. Domestic violence occurs in both opposite-sex and same-sex relationships and can happen to intimate partners who are married, living together, or dating. ” for more info go to http://www.womenhelpingwomenmaui.com
There are always children at the women’s shelter so it can be difficult for them to be able to take the class when there is no child care. Overall it is an enjoyable experience being able to serve and share meditation and yoga. It’s much like serving a tray of delicacies that you have spent a lot of time preparing. When someone takes your offering and clearly appreciates it everything feels easy and it is inspiring to want to learn more.
Please share your Seva story with me so we can spread the Seva! Aloha and Namaste, Johanna Waters info@johannawaters.com
