Seva Story #41 of 100

Aloha Friends,
        Today’s Seva story #41 of 100 comes from Preston who lives in Saskatoon.  I am collecting 100 Seva stories to share ideas, inspiration and spread positive news, Seva means selfless service for the benefit of community and the environment. Preston writes;

“Mr. “We”

Life has blessed me with an example of selfless service that I have been witnessing as long as I can remember. It has only been in the last few years that I could see it clearly. My dad Stu, who’s actions have always spoken louder and much more frequently than his words, is truly a selfless servant to our family, friends and community. Providing service is such a way of life for him that he wouldn’t even know what “selfless service” was if you asked him. Whether it’s looking after his three granddaughters and making sure their lives are full of opportunities, helping out friends with a broken down car or restoring old furniture for family members in need, the service never stops flowing…

Everyday this man works tirelessly behind the scenes to help make peoples lives easier. When asked about or thanked for his deeds he is quick to pass it off by using terminology like “We fixed the car”, “We dropped them off at the airport”, “We painted the fence” even though he was the soul proprietor at work. You will NEVER witness him say “I fixed their washing machine”, “I took care of their kids”, “I did so and so’s yard work.”

I know there are many people out there who are of a similar mind set as Mr. “We” and the rest of us need to soak up their example. Let us serve so frequently that the intent or idea to serve disappears and a serving way of life is born.”

Please share your Seva story with me so we can spread the Seva! Mahalo and Namaste,  Johanna Waters    info@johannawaters.com
